European Month of Ergonomics EME 2014-2015 "Ergonomics for manageing work-related stress"

For the two-year period of 2014-2015 the FEES has decided to support the European campaign "Healthy Workplaces Manage Stress", organized by the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA). The overall content of the campaign is described as "manageing work-related stress and psychosocial risks". The topic is especially interesting for ergonomists, for whom this is a part of their core expertise area. The FEES is also an official partner of the EU-OSHA.

This conference is considered as an extension of the first conference held in 2012, about ergonomics and its role in prevention and development in developing countries. Among its recommendations was continuing to hold conferences on ergonomics due to its importance in serving the national development on the one side and to its importance in developing ergonomics in developing countries on the other side.

Closing event of the EU-OSHA campaign on ‘Working together for risk prevention’

Dr Christa Sedlatschek, Director of EU-OSHA, said: ‘The Healthy Workplaces campaigns have proven once again to be one of the most successful and effective ways of promoting good OSH at a grass-roots level. We are delighted that so many companies and organisations across Europe took part in this risk prevention campaign – they all understand and appreciate the huge contribution that OSH can make to improving working conditions.

NAPO Study resources for teachers

Using the ever-popular Napo character, EU-OSHA, the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work, together with the Napo Consortium has devised a series of occupational safety and health (OSH) education toolkits for teachers, aimed at introducing health and safety topics to primary school children in an educational, yet fun and imaginative way using the Napo clips and creative activities.

Report - Joint Seminar “The European Social Model”

On behalf of the Federation of European Ergonomics Societies (FEES) R. Hoftijzer was present at “The European Social Model” joint seminar of the European Parliament and four European agencies/organizations. The title was The European Social Model “A key driver for competitiveness”. Besides the organisers European organisations like FEES could participate. More than 100 participants were present.

GfA Autumn Conference in Vienna 2013

There was a GfA Autumn Conference in Vienna, 19th-20th September 2013.

The Austrian Workers Compensation Board, Department for prevention organized this year the annual autumn conference of the German Ergonomics Society (GfA).

At this conference contrtibutions from ergonomics, human factors, prevention but also out of the operational praxis were discussed.
